Ah, what a busy, busy morning.
I started gardening again before the carabao grass grows too long and would be hard to trim. Thunderstorms are a daily occurrence now (well, almost). After all the rainy season has set in. I love when it rains and I don’t have to water the plants but I don’t look forward to the rainy days. I hate typhoons and continuous rains. In our country, they are inevitable though. I am just praying there would no more strong south winds (habagat) that would bring flash floods and rainy days.
We had a simple lunch yesterday at Kuya J. It is not really that high-end but the food was okay. Would love to try their other recipes someday.
The birthday boy was busy. He and his girlfriend had a seminar at Uber in the afternoon. Next would be at Grab. The traditional taxis/cabs here nowadays are getting a little unpopular. Some smell and they are even expensive. Uber and Grab entered the scene a few years ago, they are now slowly dominating the market. You can’t sign up though if you have your car older than the year 2016. With Uber and Grab, you’ll know how much you would pay beforehand. Peak hours are quite expensive though. For group rides with fixed destinations, you can always use AUVs. The fare is way cheaper than the sedans used by Uber and Grab. Buses and jeepneys here are the traditional alternatives in public commuting. Trains like the LRT and MRT always break down. They are not properly maintained. I don’t always go out long distances and commute. Malls and supermarkets are everywhere. The recently opened SM East Ortigas mall is so near our place. You just have to take a tricycle ride then take a walk for about five or ten minutes to get there.
Still enjoying social media despite the ugly and bad news every day. One just got to be vigilant always. What about you guys?
Wait its Wednesday!! Gardening is good for the soul! I should take it up!! Lol

It’s Thursday here Alesia, 2:09PM. I agree with you, although gardening is hard, it is a balm for the soul.

Taxi companies like Uber are beginning to dominate the market in the bigger cities here. Where we live, traditional taxis are very expensive, and there is not enough trade to attract companies like Uber. I occasionally take buses, but only use taxis for special occasions, so generally, one of us will drive our own car.
Rain is forecast here today. Let’s hope it breaks the spell of very high and uncomfortable temperatures.
Best wishes, Pete.

Rain, rain go away. It’s raining again in some areas of Metro Manila. It’s so dark outside. I don’t know how to drive Pete and our car is in the province with my brother.

I was aware you didn’t drive, Arlene. If I lived in Manila, I probably wouldn’t bother driving either. 🙂

Yes, practical Pete. Roads here are so congested with buses and cars and blaring jeepneys in some areas. Motorcycles which are cheap transports for most people here are all over the metropolis.

I just finished three days off in a row, which, honestly, sounds better than it is since I’m off by 1:00 PM on my part-time work days. So there really is no reason for my yard to look like a jungle and the house to constantly be messy and in need of vacuuming. And yet, here I sit in my recliner, with my laptop in my lap sipping my coffee…

That’s a very good way to relax, having coffee with your laptop in front of you. I think I am a bit OC when it comes to things. I don’t like a messy house, If not for the threatening thunderstorms, I would spent the afternoon in the garden again. Thanks Sue.

I do have a touch of Thursday blues myself, but I’m fighting it. 🙂 🙂 The forecast was for a nice day and it’s heavily overcast. My plans are out the window so I guess I’ll make a new plan.

I actually prefer Uber/Grab, too. Very convenient. Have a great week ahead, Ate Arlene! 😊

I’ve been gardening a lot myself lately. I live in a forest of mixed oak and pine, and I had to get the grass cut short and the the lower limbs of trees cut before fire season. The sense of accomplishment is something that keeps me going with all the bad news.

Gardening becomes a sort of habit for us who love it. It is a hard job but so rewarding. Thanks Cathleen.

The transportation discussion was very interesting since I now nothing about any of your options(except the bus.) I am glad you are gardening since that means you are taking your doctor’s advice to reduce your stress.

Really, life at times could be so stressful. Thanks Elizabeth.

I just realized that rainy season is not a good time for gardening. I thought it was, considering that the soil would be saturated with rainwater.

The sun shines still until noon nowadays so it is a little ideal to garden but yes when the soil is saturated, you can do nothing.
