Contrary to what WordPress says, I celebrate my anniversary here at the time I actually published some posts and not the date when I opened an account which was about a year before I’ve been actively blogging here. Tomorrow would be my 8th year on WordPress. Hooray.
Have you ever thought of blogging about “blogging”? Did you ever make a post about blogging?
It was a bit awkward opening an account here and not even knowing how to choose a good theme and customize your site. It was a bit awkward to post something to an audience (if there was even one) you didn’t know from Adam. It was more awkward filling up a blank space on your computer screen thinking of what to write about. When I started here, I published some of my posts from my Multiply site. Back then, I had a premium account at Multiply I am just a little sad, that site has to close a few years ago. I was not so happy at the start here because no one commented on my earlier posts except for a few friends I met earlier at Multiply. The “like” button was only introduced in WordPress last August 2010, more than a year after I activated my account here. Introducing that “like” feature was an awesome way to meet new bloggers. You get to see their Avatar on your post. I could not remember now the first “like” I received and which post earned it.
A friend introduced me to WordPress. I didn’t know about it until nine years ago when I tried opening an account here. I’ve stayed with it ever since. I earned a total of 469,162 stats as of this writing with 1,988 blog posts to boot. Yes, 12 more posts to go before another milestone on the 2,000th post. If I were to summarize my total posts on WordPress with four other seldom visited blogs I created, I’ve reached more than that number already. Did I say I still have 28% more to go on my free space here? I eventually cut down on posting high-resolution photos. In the past, that ate up a lot of free space posting them right from my camera.
It is easier now to interact with online friends. It is easier to appreciate and make comments on blogs you like. It has become a joy to blog about the daily happenings in one’s life, things that makes one happy, daring enough to share and be accepted in the blogosphere.
How’s your blogging journey?
Wow! That is a long innings. Congratulations on your 8 th blogging anniversary Arlene 🎂

Initially I followed a number of people from my Blogging 101 class, which gave me a start. Lots of them have dropped out, but gradually I found others. I’m thrilled that I now know people all around the globe from different age groups and with different interests. I can’t remember how I found you, but I’m so glad I did.

I haven’t taken other challenges at WordPress except the 2011 Post A Day Challenge. Yes, some of the people I used to follow are out of the loop now, sad. I am glad to meet you here too Anne, thanks.

As you know, I do publish a lot of posts about blogging, and I am soon to reach my fifth year on my own main blog. You have so many high stats, Arlene, it is obvious that you are doing something right.
Keep it up!
Best wishes, Pete.

Congratulations Arlene!!! 1,986 posts is an INCREDIBLE feat (14 more to 2,000!!!) Thanks for inspiring us all to keep going. In July I celebrate 6 years @ Roses in the Rubble but still haven’t hit 400 posts yet (the caregiving gig for my parents was intense at times & then I let it go for awhile!) Now trying to post once a week, twice if possible..
I so enjoy your posts, especially when you share about your daily life – it makes the world seem small & warm & neighborly. Blessings as you continue your journey in the blogosphere (& in all spheres of life!) Virginia 🙂

Thank you so much Virginia for these inspiring comments. I am so glad that in my own small way, I bring joy to others. Yes, I thought you are longer in the loop. I am your follower too. I do agree, it feels like you are just around the corner. Thanks again 🙂

Wow – you’re definitely a very experienced blogger Arlene. I’ve been ‘cutting my teeth for just over a year and have just moved to ‘self hosted’.. I’ve made some notes about the process of transferring and some of the hiccups I’ve encountered (not too many it has been pretty smooth so far) and I think I may do a blog post about this in due course..
I’ve loved my blogging experience and meeting wonderful new people from all over the world.. My life has definitely been enhanced as a result of the lovely ‘blogging friends’ I’ve made, of which you are most definitely one.
Well done and a very big congratulations on your journey Arlene! xxx

Hi Wendy, thank you so much for these. Much as I want to have a self-hosted blog, I find the premium ones a bit costly for me. I opened a new blog instead about a year ago. I am glad blogging is a worthwhile thing for you too. It’s nice I also found you here.
