There have been so many excellent books written about the Holocaust both true accounts and fiction. There is Man’s Search For Meaning by Victor Frankl which I’ve read three decades ago, Schindler’s List by Thomas Keneally which was adapted into a movie andΒ Mila 18 by Leon Uris.
Irena’s Children is one of them, a newly published book about the life of Irena Sendler and how she helped save thousands of children affected by the war (when Germany invaded Poland).
Such a riveting story of loss of millions of lives because of war, selflessness, love of family, love of country, courage, life and death.
Gosh, I can’t believe it. this is my 99th read and I am almost, almost done. One more book to go. I am in a quandary which to read first, Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak which I’ve been eyeing to read since my college years or The Kitchen House which is another historical novel. Or maybe, toss coin na lang, which is which..haha π
Sometimes,Iwonder why I am always drawn to history, fiction or not. Maybe I am an old soul.
I’ve read about her but didn’t know there was a book. If I’m not mistaken, I think there’s a movie in the works. I’m amazed by your book read feat, Ate. I’m challenging myself next year. Wish me luck.

Thanks Claire! Oh really, I’ll look forward to that movie adaptation. Reading has become a part of the daily grind. I was a student librarian for more than two years when I was in college, hence books have their usual space in our home π

Same here, the library became my sanctuary in high school as I’m assigned there as a working student. π

Katuwa naman. I spent my first two years of college life at the Humanities Section of the UST Main Lib. You can just imagine what books are kept there – Psychology, Logic, Philosophy, Literature, fiction books. I learned to love books during those early years.

You set yourself quite a task! I just finished three books in three weeks, which is probably the most I’ve read in 25 years. I have let myself be distracted by so many other things. Good for you for staying on track!

Thank you Anne. Once you start reading, you will always yearn to finish a book or two then you’ll find some more to your liking and before you know it, you’ve read a lot.

Sometimes I wonder what makes us drawn to those long ago days. Maybe after I finish Doctor Zhivago, I’ll read The Kitchen House. Thanks again for dropping by.

Thank you. It’s nice to know that you would love to read it. Actually I don’t own a copy of the book, read it from my e-reader. You can download the book I think. It was just shared by my daughter with me. Happy reading and thanks for visiting my blog.

I really liked The Kitchen House. Great read! Another book I really liked was “You are not like other Mothers”, written by Angelika Schrobsdorff. A fascinating look at life through the eyes of a young Jewish woman during WWII. π

Hi, thanks for the visit. The Kitchen House would be next I guess. Will look into that book “You Are Not Like Other Mothers”. The title alone is interesting. Good morning!
