For a while there, I got confused. WordPress is doing a lot of changes and it is sometimes hard to catch up when you don’t blog regularly. My dashboard seems to have taken a different format. I was looking for the WP Admin on the upper left side only to find it relegated at the lowest portion of the dashboard. I am of the old school (haha) preferring the old format even when posting. I’d rather see the bar graph on my stats than just the numbers pasted on the screen. It is easier to interpret the former because you can compare how your blog did the past days to your newest post.
I am rather careful before I hit publish because when you do the editing, it reverts to the new format and sometimes even the alignment goes crazy. Is it just me? Are you experiencing it too?
Anyway, despite all the changes I am grateful that there is this medium where I can share my thoughts and find new friends. Thank you WordPress!
Oh, this is my 1,803rd post. Hooray 🙂
I have some issues with this too, Arlene. The edit function always appears in the new format. But I am always careful never to click on the ‘try the new way…’ box when drafting posts. Once you do that, it seems to stick.
If you click the actual bar for the day you are working, then hit ‘return to stats’ on the next screen, you will see the old-style stats screen.
Best wishes, Pete.

Glad to know I am not alone in this Pete. Like you, I still use the old format when posting. I tried the new way before, the pics seemed okay while they were not yet published, paragraphs are okay too but when you publish it, it’s just one long paragraph and sometimes the photos don’t show.

I had that long paragraph issue too. The new posting format doesn’t seem to recognise spacing. I stick to the old way, while it is still available!

I hope they won’t totally delete the old format, I am more comfortable with it. Thanks Pete!

No, it’s not just you! I prefer the old format, too.

Thanks! It is easier to compose something in the old format 🙂

Congrats on your posting total, and yes, I get dismayed when things change and make posting harder. I also like the old format for creating posts. I have found if I go to “all posts” on my dashboard sidebar, and choose edit from there, I can edit in the old format rather than the new. Maybe that will work for you too. Have a great day.

Thank you so much. Will try to see what you recommended. I hope WP won’t remove the old format.

You can use the legacy format, I still do. You had to select it to change back. I don’t remember how I did it so long ago though. Send the Happiness engineers an email..

I go back to the old format, too. I don’t think one can scale photos with the new.

You do too? I hope they would not remove that old format. Thanks Imelda 🙂

I always go to WP Admin in the pull down menu. Then I click “add new post”, a little more tedious but at least I can see what I am doing. 🙂
