This morning, I received these greetings with the same familiar logo of WordPress.
Happy Anniversary with WordPress. com. You registered on WordPress. com 8 years ago. Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging.
Thanks WordPress. Has it really been that long? I know I registered eight years ago but it took me more than a year to actively start blogging. I didn’t know how to customize a theme. I didn’t even know what to blog about even if back then, I had separate blogs on Multiply and Friendster. Unofficially, Dreams and Escapes would be turning seven come May.
It’s been a long journey, finding your own niche in the blogging world using a popular site like WordPress. It’s been a long journey, giving a voice to what’s on your mind, tucking the fragments of time in one’s memory, stringing words to make a long post, creating poems and being amazed at the joys of taking photos, experimenting on macro photography. It’s been a long journey of faith and hope.
The pleasure one gets when you publish something, the delight in reading and answering comments, the luxury of having loyal online friends who look forward to every post and the pleasure of reading other posts and discovering new blogs and writers – priceless.
I have five blogs in all with separate and different entries on each one. Obsessed? Not really. Blogging has become a catharsis for me over the years. When life’s angst glares at you in the face, writing heals a little of the hurts and pains that it brings. Sharing the joys and inspirations will always be a priority though. I have a total of 1,766 posts excluding this one.1,545 followers and a total of 392,386 views as of this writing. I don’t follow my stats on my other blogs. A while ago, WordPress informed me that I am getting upward spike on my Garden and Empty Spaces blog. I haven’t updated the site for a long time.
Eight years! Time flies!
Wow, 8 years! Very inspiring, maintaining five blogs and having loyal readers is such a feat. Congrats and looking forward to more posts from you Tita Arlene. Have a great sunday.

Wow, four years, congratulations too. A friend once told me that blogging has become a way of life.

It is definitely a kin to that, though I do like to take it easy at times and have a break. You are free to visit my blog anytime you want.

Sure Vinnieh, blogging though is a break for me…haha. Would love to explore your blog.

Hi, Arlene. I am pleased to see you still blogging so prolifically after eight years. I have not yet reached four years, and published 900 posts, but I can see that the secret of your success lies in the honesty and sincerity of your writing, and the hope and good things you see in the world. I am looking forward to your next eight years, and plan to be there for your sixteenth anniversary.
Best wishes as always, Pete.

Where would I be in the next eight years Pete? I’ll probably have arthritic fingers 🙂 You have written a lot in four years. If I will consolidate all my blog posts, it might probably reach 2k. Thank you so much for being a friend here, always so supportive and so generous with praise. We’ll see, we’ll see. That’s being so optimistic I guess. Another 8 years of blogging…

When the fingers get too painful, you can get some speech-recognition software, or just dictate your blog to Nate! In eight years, I will be 72, if I am still around, and if so, I hope to still be blogging alongside you.
Your blogging friend and companion, Pete. x

You really made me laugh. I thought of that, the years I mean. Nate would be turning 12 by then. Keep blogging. I like to read more stories and of course, Ollie’s walks.

Like you say, one of your blogs hasn’t been updated for a while – that is one of the advantages with blogging – you can always come back.

So true Leya. I am trying to segregate all my photos accordingly. It’s easier that way although sometimes it is hard to maintain several blogs.

I started on a new one called Dreams Never End because my remaining allowed free limits here is now down to 29%. You might want to visit there too, it’s mostly photos with reflections and short verses. For when this is full, I’ll use that to continue blogging.
