I am still counting. Indulge me a little… please. It’s my 6th year at WordPress.
And let’s keep this between us. I don’t really celebrate the time I opened an account here, not knowing what theme to use, not knowing how to customize a simple theme, not knowing how to blog at WordPress. There was that one pathetic post (a poem, if I remember) culled from my college journal and it stayed there for almost a year without any additional post. I am celebrating the time I transferred some of my blog posts from Multiply. One thing I remember was blogging about the movie Summer of 42 after accidentally finding a copy of the book by Herman Raucher.
More than a year later, I participated in WordPress’ 2011 Post A Day Challenge proudly posting the badge given by WordPress on my page. If I remember, I was in doubt if I’ll be able to finish it. Blogging everyday had its rewards but it was so hard to think of topics to blog about. It was a long uphill climb to get a thousand stats and a hundred viewers so to speak. When you are just starting to blog, you appreciate every like, every comment and everyone who follows it. First and foremost though were those times you were so touched by sincere comments that sometimes were longer than your post. Until now, I get a bit teary-eyed reading those comments shared by fellow sojourners, seeking an end to a painful reality, wishing that the journey is not that heavy to traverse and that the long road may not be that treacherous and thorny.
I wonder how long I’ll be able to keep this up, writing about everyday life, writing about simple things that may seem insignificant to most but precious to the heart, writing about the aches and pains of growing old and appreciating life – a life of second chances.
Thank you to my blogger friends. Thank you to all those people who visit my blog every day.
The dream stays. It will come true someday I know.
