Turning 58 at last!
I had a good eight hours of sleep last night and I thought when I woke up this morning, “so this is how it feels to be 58”. Three weeks ago, one of my close friends came home for a short vacation and she insisted that we celebrate my birthday early since she was only given two weeks by her boss. After deliberating on where to spend lunch and getting in touch with a few more friends, we finally settled at Vikings, Megamall, a luxury buffet restaurant that serves lunch and dinner but you need to reserve seats at least three or two days before going there. It was my second time to eat at Vikings but it was my first time to visit their Megamall branch. Last year, my daughter treated me to lunch in one of their branches in Marikina City. Vikings serves sumptuous feasts of delectable European, American, Japanese, Chinese and Filipino dishes. It is always a joy to discover something new that you haven’t tasted before. Birthday celebrators during the month are free of charge and they even have this singing duo to greet you happy birthday with a small cake to wish on. It was fun. The food was good and the company even better, priceless moments of togetherness with friends. Thank you sis Odette for the lovely treat.
I attended the 6am mass at Our Lady of Light Parish and when I reached home, my son was laboring over the hot stove preparing pasta. He seldom cooks and this was his first time to cook spaghetti. Imagine, having pasta for breakfast with some slices of embutido as side dish. He asked what my birthday wish was. Nothing tangible I said, just good health and happy moments with the family. Isn’t that what we always wish for? An appreciation of life and what it brings and the many small treasures that we collect as we traverse our journeys, we long for simple things that make the heart happy.
After breakfast, it was a busy morning going back to the town proper with some neighbors to visit the mayor’s office, had coffee at McDo then went home exhausted to prepare lunch. I cooked pancit habhab though and had some fresh veggie salad for dinner. I missed some calls on my cellphone, answered a lot of private messages on Facebook. I don’t allow postings by others on my timeline except when they tag me and I have to approve it. I am grateful for all their birthday wishes and prayers.
Who needs a birthday cake when you have this, the best kakanin in town. Cainta is known as the bibingka capital of the Philippines. Take your pick, they have it all.
My day ended with Nate’s shouts of “Love you Nonna” and “happy bet-day”. Thank You Lord for the gift of life, thank You for another year of blessings.
A most happy birthday to you my dear. Great post to share your celebration with us. Wonderful pictures too.. Take care and happy blogging to ya….

Nice to see everyone so happy in the photos, and the delicious food too. It is almost five years since I had my 58th, and I cannot recall what I did that day. I must have gone to the seaside, as I never worked on my birthday, and always had a day out. Thanks for allowing us into your day.
Best wishes from England as always, Pete.

Maybe when I get to add more years like your age now, I’ll just smile and reminisce how I celebrated my 58th.
Thank you so much for the greetings. I am also blessed to have several online friends here at WP. Hope Ollie will get well soon.

You look as if you had a wonderful birthday! I am so happy you were surrounded by your friends and loved ones! Those pictures are current so I can still say that there is no way I would guess you were 58 years young!

It wasn’t grand but it was a happy one. Getting older but getting wiser too with age, I hope 🙂 The wrinkles are already showing (here and there) Tina but I really don’t mind. The senior citizens (aged 60 up) here in our country have all the privilege and I can’t wait to be one. Two more years to go:)
Thanks!

Oh, I agree, you should have all the perks of a senior citizen as you richly deserve them but I do not really consider someone elderly (in my own mind) until they are in their 90’s. You are a young grandmother and a wonderful human being who surely deserves the best life has to offer!

When you are a survivor, sometimes you feel that nagging thoughts that you’d not be as fit as you want to be as you grow older. I live life now from day to day, praying that I will stay healthy so I can see my grandson grow. Life is how we make it.
Thanks Tina, I love reading your comments here, they are so uplifting 🙂

Hello Arlene, It’s wonderful to read about your budding flower companions! I have been quite the lazy gardener of late, and this post of yours just reminded me to get back to my garden friends. Your birthday is such a happy story to read. I’m thrilled for you!
I’m trying to get the hang of WordPress. I’m pretty much trying to grapple with its difference from Blogger. I hope to master this..I can’t figure a lot of things..like why my sidebar doesn’t have these recent posts showing the yours does. I dunno’ how to put links to my sidebar either..sigh’…I hope to get this sorted.
It’s been fun reading here. 🙂

Wow Roselle, thanks a lot. I am so happy to see you here at WP. It is quite easy to navigate when you get the hang of it. Go to your dashboard and look for the widgets you want to add.
What theme are you using here? They have lots to choose from but of course I am using the free themes for all my 4 blogs here. Would love to introduce you later to some of my blogging friends by sharing your link.
Welcome to WP 🙂
