A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.

It’s been a while and I meant to post this a week ago but I was sidetracked by too much work at home the past few days. Birthdays come and go and you count the years expecting that the last one was the best birthday celebration you had and it was. Thanks to my two wonderful kids who shared their precious time with me, going out of their way to really make me smile and feel so much-loved.
One is doubly blessed having a Sunday for a birthday. I offered a Thanksgiving mass at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish then Josef and I had lunch at Kenny Rogers Roaster in SM Megamall. Back when the kids were not yet working, Kenny Rogers was one of our favorite places to go to because they loved the roast chicken and they could always choose any side dish that they wanted. It hasn’t waned through the years, we still make a visit from time to time.
Nissa treated me to a buffet lunch the following day at Vikings SM Marikina. You actually need to reserve a seat since the line outside was quite long. Nissa took care of it , of course. Since this was our first time to go to SM Marikina (Vikings has only three branches in Metro Manila), we took a commute from our place and Nissa and I were laughing when she said, ” It’s near enough and we didn’t get lost.” 🙂 It was a sumptuous and scrumptious lunch and I loved their seafood although I didn’t eat much of the baked oysters. Vikings gifted me with a small birthday cake the size of a big muffin. I enjoyed the fresh fruits and the “to die for” avocado ice cream. Looking at the pictures, I can’t help but think how we were able to consume all that food. The trick is to eat in small portions so you could sample other menu on their list. I loved that melt-in-the mouth blueberry cheese cake.
One thing I love about celebrating birthdays are the greetings from friends and relatives, offers of prayers and well-wishes. Lovell, my priest son texted me early that morning and included me in one of his masses for the day. How blessed one could really be! And it’s one of my best birthdays ever. I do get a little emotional though every time I celebrate one.
Thank You Lord for the gift of life.
