Sometimes, you walk through life full of anguish and pain but those are same moments when you realize that you are stronger than most, that you could face life and all its challenges because you are one blessed soul.
I do remember and I feel grateful and blessed today. Thank You for making me realize that the past four years of being in remission is Your way of making me closer to You. I bow my head in thanksgiving for all the wonderful graces, for the gift of family and friends who were there during my journey, sharing my pain and making me feel loved.
To God be the glory, Arlene.

I never understood it before, “Lucky are the sick and the poor . . .” until my mother got very sick. Our faith was never in question, we hang on to it. Hang on, God bless you Arlene.

God continues to bless you with life. It’s been a year now since my Mom’s passing. She was blessed with 1-1/2 years of a good quality of life after her Whipple’s surgery, until the 19th month when she started losing appetite and her health deteriorated.

I am so sorry to hear that Leo. So that was why I haven’t seen you here for a while. I am sure you have lots of good memories of her that you will treasure for always. God bless 🙂

Yes, there are lots of memories! I do miss also our trips to the hospital when we go for her checkups and her subsequent chemo sessions (almost no side effects!). We were hoping for a remission, too, but nodules were later found on her liver. Even through all of these, and even months before she had the surgery, there were signs that God was in control. I even wrote Cardinal Chito about it just last week! God bless you.

Were you able to bring her to Tanay as you planned? You are so right, even in our times of weakness and pain, there is always something so beautiful about the experience.

I really would have wanted to but it would be a long trip and we’d have to be on the road early….Dad has a peculiar morning routine that he has to complete before we could travel. So the farthest we could go was only Tagaytay.

Hi Ma’am Arlene.. This is the first time i come across your blogs. I am also a cancer patient. And we have the same surgeon, Dr. Samuel Ang, the best and definitely the kindest doctor i’ve met. And we had our operation in the same year. I had my subtotal gastrectomy on Jan. 27, 2009.

I haven’t been back to Dr. Ang since 2011, nakakasawa na ang visits sa hospitals and doctors right but I agree with you, Dr. Ang is the best doctor I’ve ever met. I’ve claimed total healing. God is good, He is a God of second chances.
