I caught Mom staring intently in front of the mirror, examining her face and turning her head this way and that. Our eyes met. We laughed.
The lines on her face show wisdom acquired with age. Last night when we learned of Dolphy’s passing on, she said “magka-edad lang pala kami“. She just turned 83 two months ago, almost a year younger than Dolphy. Growing older does not mean that you have lost opportunities that come with being young. Growing older means savoring the gifts that life brings every day and enjoying life to the fullest. One is never old enough to say “ah, ice cream is better than coffee.”
