I CAN’T! And that’s written in big bold letters. This ongoing love affair knows no bounds, an insatiable thirst for more, loving the feel and smell of new pages, waiting to discover something that would either make you cry, laugh, think and smile. I need more space for more books. If my brother could hear me now, he would say, get a Kindle. He offered to buy me one but I am in a quandary whether I will enjoy reading without holding the book in my hands. I took some shots of some of the books we have now after I lost most of my collection more than two years ago. Someday, I’m going to replace them one by one because I want to read some of them all over again and get lost in the magic of words.
I need one more like this, a wooden cabinet where I could arrange the other books hiding behind those books on the wall.
And these are my daughter’s new collection. She’s lately into magic and vampires and werewolves. But if you were to ask me I enjoyed the series of Suzanne Collin’s The Hunger Games. All three books were exceptionally written. Move over Harry Potter and let’s watch this soon for a change. I also enjoyed reading The Red Pyramid because it brought me back to the magic of childhood.
And these are my personal favorites.

Oh Arlene, your shelves are so pretty and organized. 🙂 I love your collections too! And Simple Abundance was our Bible with mom for a while! It’s nice to see it here with you.

Hahaha, thanks! And I even thought of arranging them by authors and titles. How OC can I get?

There is definitely something great about being able to physically handle a book, and turn real pages as you read, and the smell of the paper. Reading a book turns into an entire experience.

So true…I still prefer turning the pages:) Thanks a lot for following my blog.

Hi Arlene!
Are you sending me messages through mental telepathy?
Why am I asking this?
A few minutes ago Tristan, my 14-yr. old grandson here, and I were discussing a book that he had been assigned to read. Out of the blue, he mentioned that I should read “Hunger Games”….. now, I’ve just been to your FB page and read the post that redirected here. So, the Jack Collins’ series comes highly recommended!
I hope to share my book adventures with you sometime…..

Hi Ding,
Yes, why don’t you? The first book is the best I think but you must read them all so you would enjoy the series. I’m hoping the movie adaptation would be shown here.
I am pretty sure, you have lots of time there to explore bookstores and buy books that you really like. Mas mura libro diyan, sabi nga ng iba, minsan iniiwan na lang sa mga benches or trains for others to enjoy!

Hello Arlene!
A bit of correction – it’s not Jackie Collins but Suzanne Collins…. I still find the books here expensive, like for the first Hunger Games, it’s 12$+ hardbound (haven’t seen it in paper back yet). Gee, it’s because I convert each dollar into pesos. Anyway, my son downloaded all three in the series on his Nook so I’ll just read them all there.
The public library system here is great – all the books – even the newest ones in the market, are there. You can reserve for books online as well as renew them too. They’re highly computerized. Books are checked out and returned digitally. I explore the public libraries here more than I do the bookstores. With just one library card, you have access to all the public libraries in Las Vegas.
You’ve really got a nice layout here in wp.

Hahaha, yes, oo nga, my apology! I think they don’t have them yet on paperback. Nissa’s set comes in trade paperback, a little more expensive than the mass market- produced. paperback copy. I am envious, my friend in Canada do the same thing, reserve books even if they are not yet acquired by the library so she always gets first glimpse and read.
Thanks Ding, I got tired of the old one.

Reblogged this on DREAMS AND ESCAPES and commented:
I am not really fond of reblogs. Derrick, one of my online friends here shared a link to his post about his library so I am sharing mine too. This was written more than seven years ago and I have accumulated more and so did Nissa. Sometimes, when I like a particular author, I tend to collect all his books. My most loved books are hidden in a cabinet so they won’t get dirty. They are hardbound and trade paperback copies which are gifts from friends.
