A friend just spent several days in Albay, Bicol Region and she sent me these lovely pictures. She knows that I am dreaming of going there too and see Inang Mayon. Inang Mayon is Mayon Volcano to you dear readers. It’s widely renowned as the perfect cone because of its almost symmetric conical shape. It is considered as the main landmark of Albay province. It rises to 2,460 meters above the Albay Gulf and is also the most active volcano in the Philippines.
Look at how the clouds hover above the volcano. It seems like a lovely painting with the vast rice fields on the foreground.
I can imagine myself looking at the sunrise while taking a morning walk in this place, the lovely profusion of orange in the pale blue sky.
What would you give for a place like this, the peace and quiet is so palpable. Someday, I want to spend a few mornings here.
Oh gosh! A rainbow, another wonder from above. God is definitely showing His face and greeting the day, “good morning“.
And this is the “perfect cone”. Could you find something like this anywhere else?
I’d like to lose myself in that thick fog and discover what’s inside that little hut. I wish I were here communing with nature – at its best.
The play of light here is simply perfect. I feel like singing, “on a clear day, you can see forever”.
Just awesome!
Thanks a lot Lilet for these lovely pics. The next time you go there, I want to tag along and experience the same bliss and happiness you did while looking at Inang Mayon. What a perfect vacation for you!
Lovely pictures! While I’m here in GenSan on work-related activity, a view of Mt. Matutum would make one compare it to Mt. Mayon: symmetrical slopes, but more rugged-looking. And during my two-week stay here, I was greeted also with rainbows for no less than three times. It always reminds me of the week before mother underwent surgery. It was then that I also saw a rainbow. It’s a very reassuring sight, like God’s covenant with Noah after the flood. Now every time I see a rainbow I am reminded that God is there, and that especially in difficult times we have to trust Him.

Thanks Leo! That’s so true, even if it’s just the clear blue sky that we see above or just clouds threatening rain, we are always reminded of our Maker. How great are thy gifts Lord.
