Magna Cum Laude.  Graduated at University of the Philippines, one of the most prestigious universities in the Philippines with a degree in Architecture. Board Topnotcher. A qualified architect. To sum it all, she’s what we call beauty and brains. She finished 3rd runner-up in the recently concluded Miss Universe beauty pageant held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  She might not have gotten the crown but in the hearts of all Filipinos and her kababayans, she’s the real winner.  She was a crowd favorite and was on top during the fan vote of the final five.  But one thing though that kept her apart from the rest was the way she answered during the Q and A portion of the pageant with no interpreter, her answer delivered in straight English. The question was:  “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love? Why or why not?”

She answered:  “If I would have to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person I love, because the person that I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. If the person loves me, he’ll love my God too.”

I do believe that religious beliefs  play  an important role in choosing a lifetime partner. Let God be the center of a marriage. How could one bring up a successful family and God-fearing children out of a marriage where religion does not count that much?

We are one with you Shamcey and you really made us proud. Congratulations!
