I am a little distracted waiting for fresh news about typhoon Chedeng that I could not think of anything worth-blogging .  A few days ago, WordPress posted this question, “What film have you seen more than any other?”. I don’t even have to think twice. Of course, it’s  The Sound of Music. Could it be anything else? I’ve watched it more than ten times I guess, and every time I do, it never fails to make me smile and think about the good old days. One can’t deny that it’s now a classic movie. I love the story of the Von Trapp family and I love Julie  Andrews and Christopher Plummer.

I remember one time when my daughter was still in grade school, they were asked to do a summary of The Sound of Music. We watched it together then she asked me to type the report for her.  And the first line  she wrote  was this, “Maria is missing, where could she be?”  That was when I knew that this girl, my smart daughter really could write. She summarized the story in five pages.  We still watch it, now and then, when we want to sing with Julie Andrews belting out,

♪♫ The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears

My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds
that rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies
from a church on a breeze
To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls over
stones on its way
To sing through the night like a lark who is learning to pray ♫ ♪

and Christopher Plummer singing Edelweiss on guitar.   I think this movie is here to stay. Young and old enjoy it and I would love to watch it again one of these days.
