Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
– Joshua 1:9

My heart goes out to Japan. I was watching several videos on the aftermath of the 8.9 earthquake and the most powerful tsunami that hit Japan last Friday and I can only shake my head and utter a fervent prayer. We are one with you, we share your pain and we’re praying for you to be strong. At some point  in our lives, we are confronted by events that we think would truly test our endurance, our capacity for pain, our sense of resilience and our faith in God. But these are the same events that would show us that we are stronger than we think, that we can endure and we can slowly pick up the pieces and go on with life with all its drudgery and broken dreams.

I remember our own ordeal more than a year ago with typhoon Ondoy. I know it wouldn’t even compare with the devastation left by the tsunami and earthquake in Japan, just the same,  the experience taught me so many things.  Life could end in just a snap, life could change in a  heartbeat but we should never waver in our faith.

Let’s bend down on our knees and pray not only for Japan but for the whole world. We need prayers today more than ever. I pray for all the people of Japan, from the small children who have experienced such devastation at such an early age. I pray for those who lost their lives, may they see eternal light in Heaven. I pray for those who lost some members of their families and their properties.  May they experience the healing power of God. I pray for all nations who are helping Japan gets on its feet again. May they unselfishly share their time and effort. I pray for those engineers who are also risking their lives in manning the nuclear reactors to avoid further damage to mankind.

Japan, we are one with you in prayers, Keep the faith!
