Nissa gave me this just before she left for a seminar in Batangas yesterday. It’s a BPI planner for 2010 and it doesn’t come free. You might wonder why I am raving about it. It’s about 7 x 10 in size with glossy pages and a collection of modern paintings from the art collection of Bank of the Philippine Islands. It’s more like a book than a journal, yes, I’m going to use it as my journal for this year.
The cover is an untitled artwork by one of our national artists HR Ocampo.
Woman Figure in Blue by Mauro Malang Santos. Beautiful , isn’t it?
Fishing Scene by Oscar Zalamea
The Lake Series I, Geyser #2 by Phyllis Zaballero
January 30, 1970 by National Artist Jose Joya
The Scene by National Artist Cesar Legaspi
Fragmented Landscape by Florencio Concepcion
Abstract by National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz
Actually there were a lot more featured contemporary paintings in this gem of a planner. I love them all. Sometimes I just miss the years I spent working at Bank of PI.
Hi Arlene(?),
I’m Phyllis Z. Your posting the BPI Planner was a big surprise for me since I didn’t know that my painting was in it and I had forgotten that they had that particular painting in the BPI Collection. Thanks for showing my page!
Also, I see that you worked for the bank. So did my husband Toti. Did you know him?
Regards, Phyllis

Thanks for leaving a comment here Ma’am Phyllis. It’s nice to know a great artist in our midst, since the only artist I’ve met personally was Sir Manny Baldemor.
Yes, I worked for BPI for more than twenty years but I availed of an early retirement ten years ago. I knew Mr. Zaballero during my Comtrust days and the early years of my stay at BPI. He was a senior officer of the bank.
Have a good day and God bless!

Wonderful to meet another Comtrust and BPI veteran! Toti was a VP in International in BPI, retired many years ago and passed away in 2001, a banker all his life. What’s your last name Arlene?
It may interest you to know that since I’m not in Multiply and I don’t blog, I saw your first entry when I opened my Google page. This posting of yours also popped up there today! The wonder of it all!
Best regards! Phyllis

I am really sorry to hear of his passing on Ma’am Phyllis. It’s Ariston. I have an account at Multiply, it’s where I keep all my photoblogs and most of my blogs. I am fairly new here at WordPress. I just opened this account last May and it is where I document my journey as a cancer patient. I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer, undergone six cycles of chemo until last December 2009.
Actually, I saw your name on FB, I was trying to find a picture of Mr. Zaballero wondering if I could still recognize him after all these years.
Thank you again for dropping by Ma’am Phyllis, it is such a great honor being visited by a great artist like you. Salamat and God bless po.
